TRiO Day Celebration
Marian University TRiO programs – Student Support Services (SSS) and McNair Scholars Program – will participate in National TRiO Day on Monday, February 28, 2011. Historically, the TRiO Day Celebration is a nationwide community service initiative. In honor of this special day, these two programs will conduct a series of activities that will bring more awareness of TRiO services available to Marian University students.
TRiO programs are funded through the U.S. Department of Education to serve students who meet one or more of the eligibility criteria: first-generation, low-income, documented disability and/or a member of a group underrepresented in graduate education. They were originally established by the federal government in 1965 to ensure equal educational opportunity for all Americans, regardless of race, ethnic background, or economic circumstance.
At this point, TRiO Programs at Marian University include Student Support Services (SSS) and the McNair Scholars Program.
